They’re almost three weeks old now, and the last person whom I really wanted to let see them in the flesh rather than from a photograph has seen them, and most of the traumatised skin has flaked away, and they look quite photogenic. So, here they are. My new tattoos:

The quill is on my right upper arm:

The raven is on my left arm, sort of curving around. I’ve included a detail of his head, because my tattoo guy did such an awesome job of capturing exactly the expression I wanted … if ravens can be said to have an expression:

Yes, they hurt, but only minimally. As a sensation, I’d consider it closer to irritation than pain … like someone scratching lightly at your arm for almost three hours. By the end, you just wish they’d hurry up and stop.

And I love them. Very, very much.

  1. Fabulous indeed.

(I have always operated under the assumption that if I get a tattoo, my arm is likely to fall off.)

    • False assumption, trust me. Unless, you know, gangrene sets in or something ….πŸ˜‰

      • Something similar happened the last time I wore a watch.

        Sensitive, I am.

  2. awesome!

  3. Ouchy but awesome.

    • Not so ouchy at all, honest!

      • Mmmm, how about *you* be the chick with tattooes in our friendship?πŸ™‚ I cry at a papercut.

        • Oh, I *hate* papercuts! But yeah, I can be the tattooed chick. I have another one booked in to be done on the 23rd, actually. Across my ribs, which will hurt *a lot* more than these two. Depending on how much more, that might be it for quite a while!

          • ‘across my ribs’ … i think i feel an ouchy coming on.

  4. Ooh, pretty!

  5. Do you promise to show photos of the ribs after the mandatory available-only-in-the-flesh period has elapsed? Or by ribs do you really mean … er … something else?

    • “Ribs” is a euphemism? Really? Gosh.

Well, actual ribs then. But no photos, even so, as this particular design is quite personal.

      • In that case I shall content myself with admiring these two beautiful ones. Very nicely chosen.

  6. I think your blog is great. Just keep on! I think so, I will be back again.
